Jessica T. DeCuir-Gunby, Ph.D. is a Professor of Educational Psychology and the Robert H. Naslund Chair in Curriculum and Teaching in the University of Southern California’s Rossier School of Education. She formerly served as Department Head and Professor of Educational Psychology in the Department of Teacher Education and Learning Sciences at North Carolina State University.

DeCuir-Gunby’s research interests include the impact of race and racial identity development on the educational experiences of African Americans, critical race theory, mixed methods research, and emotions and coping related to racism. She is an associate editor for the Review of Educational Research and is serving on the editorial boards for Contemporary Educational Psychology and Educational Psychologist. DeCuir-Gunby is a Fellow of the American Educational Research Association and an American Psychological Association Fellow for Division 15 (Educational Psychology). In addition, she is currently president-elect for Division 15 and will serve as president in 2024-2025.
